Doctor Ouellette and his staff are proud to announce the addition of the latest 3D technology to our Florida orthodontic practices. In our Merritt Island office we have recently installed a Kodak FOV 9500 CBCT Imaging System. This is our second CBCT imaging system, as we were one of the first practices in the USA to install the Kodak 9500 in our Atlanta offices.
Doctor Ouellette is the Director of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the Atlanta Center for Restorative Dentistry. He and world-renowned Implant Dentist Doctor Edward Mills corroborate on complex implant, orthodontic and restorative cases. The new technology makes it possible to take a low dose 24-second scan of your head and neck, which eliminates the need to make dental impressions. From the CBCT scan the doctors utilize a very powerful computer program called Anatomage InVivoDental 3D imaging software to render DICOM image files. From one low dose scan we are able to create all the usual orthodontic and dental records such as panoramic x-rays, lateral and front cephalometric x-rays, periapical and bitewing x-rays, temporomandibular joint volume renderings, airway diagnostic information and best of all digital study models. No initial Dental Impressions Required!
Cone beam computerized tomography has long been utilized in medicine. In medicine it is called Computed Axial Tomography (CAT) scan. The benefits and value in medical diagnostics was recognized with the awarding of a Nobel Prize in medicine to its inventors. Dental cone beam imaging will soon become the "standard of care".
